Project Profile:Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI)

Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI). MAI supported the development of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) of the Commonwealth by analyzing and prioritizing infrastructure requirements. This important effort, funded by a grant from the Economic Development Administration, involved an extensive data collection effort, including interviews of public and private sector organizations and elected officials, and an extensive outreach program, which featured public meetings on the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, and media appearances. The final recommendations also addressed funding sources, and the potential for public-private partnerships to leverage scarce public funds. MAI briefed a joint session of the CNMI House and Senate on the CEDS recommendations in January 2009.
