Modeling and Cost Analysis

With the increasing necessity for a fluid military force, cost modeling has become an invaluable tool to provide the military with guidance on the resource and budget impact of proposed force structures. Recognizing the benefits and flexibility provided to the military, we have designed, programmed, and implemented major cost models that combine logistics, equipment, personnel, transportation, and operating guidance. We develop systems and databases for a wide range of divisions, including Service-wide or limited purpose forces operating at different levels of intensity. Proposals to modify personnel, equipment, number, or mix of units can be quickly analyzed to estimate costs associated with the planned changes and help our clients obtain cost savings while maintaining military readiness.

Our corporate expertise includes in-depth knowledge of client requirements, capabilities, policies, and procedures involved in resource management. We have supported the U.S. Army in this capacity for the last 18 years and have performed similar services for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. MAI’s support has included:

  • The design and development of the Forest Service ADFF Modeling system.
  • Design, development, and maintenance of the US Army's Force Cost suite of models.
  • Design and development of the Corps Automated Budget (CAB) System.
  • Development and maintenance of the US Army's Facilities Category Group cost factors for the Installation Status Report-Infrastructure.
  • Development of automated staffing models for public works and other functions.
  • Support to numerous other customers across the Department of Defense and other Federal Agencies.

MAI can assist in improving your organization’s bottom line by providing automation planning support, spanning the systems development life cycle, from feasibility study to implementation of a hardware and software solution. Regardless of the level of complex scientific and business-oriented data processing requirements you have, MAI can:

  • Analyze the requirements.
  • Write the functional requirements documents.
  • Design the overall systems architecture for independent or inter-related systems.
  • Develop database structures.
  • Define the data elements for a new RFP for acquisition of both hardware and software.
  • Conduct market surveys.
  • Develop any mandated acquisition strategy plans.
  • Develop independent cost estimates.

We also provide continuing support through the initial stages of the procurement process.
